Curator Talk: Ruth Hege Halstensen, 2009
Tuesday 24 November, 6pm
Production critique, oral storytelling and the Experience Economy
Performative strategies are being developed by a lot of artists today in a paradoxical way, where artists now perform by not performing, and collaborate with the participating audience in a new and more directed manner. Curator and art historian Ruth Hege Halstensen will introduce historic and present artistic practices that work within alternative economies. Halstensen wrote her thesis, The experience and its materiality, on Tino Sehgal’s artistic production, and is currently working on an exhibition related to the subject. Halstensen is in residency at BAC during November. The residency is supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
